Questions & Answers

I borrowed the idea from other artists and craftspeople who were making similar egg adoptions. I love to crochet, so I thought that I would try it out with gryphons.

Why not? :) Gryphons are my favourite mythical creature, and while I do like unicorns and dragons, you see those creatures all over the place. I felt that gryphons need some love too, so I thought it would be fun to make it gryphons.

The idea behind these adoptable gryphons is that they're supposed to be a surprise. You never know what you're going to get when you buy a gryphon egg.

Sorry, but no. I create the gryphons so that they can have the element of surprise for the buyers.

The gryphons are $35 each. Included with the price, you get: a hand-created egg charm, a hand-crocheted gryphon that matches the colours of the egg, and an ear tag with information of that particular gryphon. If purchasing a gryphon over the internet, please be sure to include an additional $5 for shipping within the USA, or $7 internationally.

There are many mutations, and they vary anywhere from ear types, tail types, wing colours, socks, manes, and so on. There are also different types of gyphons. The most common is the Common Gryphon, but there are also hippogryphs (rare), and sea gryphons (super rare). For a list of the mutations and their rarities, please visit the Gallery.

They can come in any colour of the rainbow! Most gryphons are dual-coloured (two colours), but some will have third or more colours.  There's also a super-rare mutation of "Solid colour", which means that the entire gryphon is a single colour and has no secondary colour.

The eggs are made out of polymer clay, and has a metal eye pin at the top.

You can find gryphon eggs for sale on at my table at various conventions that I'll be attending throughout the year.  If you're not planning on going to any of those conventions, then I highly recommend checking out my FurAffinity page journal, as I will announce when I'll be having Gryphons for sale, and they will most likely be on my Etsy Store.

Sorry, but no. Once you've purchased a gryphon egg and receive your gryphon, that gryphon is yours. The appearance of the gryphon will have been revealed, and thus, no longer a surprise. All sales are final. However, you are more than welcome to sell the gryphon or give it to a friend.

An ear tag is a tag that's attached to the ear of the gryphon (you can remove it after purchase, if you wish). It contains the information about that particular gryphon, which includes: a list of mutations that gryphon has, their birthday, and their personality. There is also a blank space for their name, so you can choose what name you would like to give them.

You can read about how to care for your gryphon by visiting the How to Care For Your Gryphon section of this webpage.

The idea about the adoption is to keep the actual appearance of the gryphon a secret and a surprise. In the meantime, I do have photos of the gryphons, but will only post them online after they've been purchased in person, or when the buyer receives them in the mail, so that it won't spoil the surprise. It's also so that people won't play favourites to certain gryphons. For example, if I posted a sea gryphon – the most rare of the gryphons, people might want to buy that one, and then none of the others. This way, it's a complete surprise of what you get. You just have to take a chance – you just might get something rare :)

I'm sorry, but no. I created the pattern from my head, which took some work. And since I'm planning on making these gryphons for some time, the pattern will not available to the public.

No, unlike other adoptable eggs where you can “breed” the critters together to get a new gryphon, there will not be any breeding with the gryphons. I just don't have the time to upkeep something like that. I'll only be creating gryphons and their eggs as I go along.

You sure can! I've had many people ask this, where they really enjoyed the design of their gryphon and wanted to either make it their online persona, or their own personal character for drawing art of it, or write stories of it and so on, and you're more than welcome to do that.
